“Cha-Cha Real Smooth” opens in theaters on Friday, May 17. The film is written and directed by Cooper Raiff, a twenty-five-year-old actor and writer. He is coming off the success of his first feature-length film “Shithouse,” which will be released in 2020. In the film, Raiff plays an outcast college freshman named Andrew who mistakenly mistakes his crush on the resident adviser for a romantic relationship.
Cooper Raiff
After being rejected for several Hollywood films, twenty-five-year-old Dallas-based filmmaker Cooper Raiff has taken his talents back to the screen in his latest feature film, Chacha Real Smooth. This romantic comedy features a talented cast and an intriguing story about a young man who mistakes a crush on his resident adviser for romance. It’s the story of a college graduate named Andrew who returns home to his hometown to find a new job and to face a new challenge: raising his disabled sister.
A recent college graduate, Andrew returns home to his bipolar mother, a younger brother with an annoying stepfather, and an older, annoying, and impressionable sister. After impressing the parents at his brother’s Bar Mitzvah, Andrew’s family decides to hire him as an official “party-starter” at the local bar mitzvahs. However, Andrew’s path back home is not smooth.
The film has plenty of things going on, but Raiff manages to make it work through an earnest whirl of dialogue and kicky incidental elements. Raiff’s characterizations keep the story moving, and he lavishes attention on the supporting cast. In the end, the film’s love for its characters and performers translates into a genuine affection for its cast. However, it’s hard to imagine any film without this affection.
The film follows the adventures of post-grad Andrew, who is stuck in New Jersey with his family after graduating. He works at a fast-food restaurant called Meat Sticks and sleeps on his younger brother’s bedroom floor. Andrew has had very little luck with women, and when he approaches a woman at a bar mitzvah, she politely turns him down. This is the beginning of a long journey toward a more fulfilling life for Andrew.
Jerry Lewis
In a world where comedy is king, Jerry Lewis’s Chacha Real Smooth seems to be a very rare find. The film is both sensitive and witty, and its cast is a dazzling mix of private dancers and likeable characters. But it also has a certain air of self-centeredness that limits the characters’ range of motion. Here, Raiff’s script provides a satisfying mixture of dramatic and comedic moments that give the film its defining tone.
The film also features the ape character Trevor McMurray, who tries to thwart a bike robbery. Unfortunately, his cable service has been canceled, and he has no way to watch old Jerry Lewis telethons. In the film, McMurray fails to save the day. Instead, he watches old Jerry Lewis telethons on YouTube to make up for lost time.
The film’s cast includes Cooper Raiff, an indie filmmaker who has won critical acclaim for his previous indie drama Shithouse. Cooper Raiff also stars in the movie as Andrew, a college graduate who falls in love with Domino Johnson, the mother of his autistic daughter Lola. But while their relationship develops, Andrew is also left to fend for himself. As he struggles to define himself and reclaim his life, he also struggles to make friends and get by in a world filled with rejection.
The film is now streaming on Apple TV and was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022. It stars Dakota Johnson and Cooper Raiff. It’s a charming new drama that premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The movie is an Apple Original, so don’t miss your chance to see it! It premiered to overwhelmingly positive reviews. It’s an incredible film to watch!
Unpersuasiveness
Despite its quirky premise, “Chacha Real Smooth” is nothing more than a clumsy imitation of a romantic comedy. Cooper Raiff (Bohemian Rhapsody), who wrote and directed the movie, is in no way a true artist. He simply wants to make movies that touch people emotionally. In the case of “Chacha Real Smooth,” Raiff borrows from his own 1961 movie, rationalizing and normalizing Lewis’ outrageous excesses. Lewis, on the other hand, played overgrown kids that begged to be hated. This, in turn, makes Raiff’s characters seem even more ridiculous than they already are.
While Raiff’s film is not without dramatic detail, he does so with a self-regarding air and a sticky-sweet glaze. It limits the range of motion of the characters, but that glaze eventually becomes part of the film’s substance. His affection for his cast, as well as his own performance, shines through the film’s many touching moments. The film’s conceit is to make audiences laugh while simultaneously demonstrating the complexities of relationships.
The narrator of Chacha Real Smooth has an impressive talent for creating complex characters. His autistic character Lola, who is not only an engaging and well-developed character, is an example of his skill. This film was a hit at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and has been screened at numerous international festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival. The movie will also be shown in select theaters.
Although the ending of Chacha Real Smooth is happy, it does not follow the fairytale. Rather, it leads two people to what they want. Ultimately, Domino makes her choice without any force. Joseph and his daughter are a safe haven for her. The film is a cautionary tale. A film for all ages! We should all remember this film. It will leave you thinking, “What could possibly go wrong?”
Canned naivete
The plot of Chacha Real Smooth is a coming of age story centered on a college graduate, Andrew. A recent graduate, Andrew is stuck with his family after graduating college. He goes to bar mitzvah parties, where he is the life of the party and a great conversationalist. But when his brother falls in love with his co-worker Dakota, Andrew realizes that he has a talent. It’s called “jig coordinating,” and it turns out to be a life-saver.
Raiff’s script, however, doesn’t have a distinct directorial style. It’s characterized by extended closeups of palpable longing, a moralistic approach to sex, and cheap irony that springs from one casual encounter. In short, “Cha Cha Real Smooth” aims to make viewers feel guilty for laughing at a film that fails to engage in a meaningful way.
The cast is diverse, but the main character, Andrew, is the main character. He is 22 years old when most of the movie takes place, and works at a fast food joint while living in a leafy New Jersey suburb. Andrew’s girlfriend, Lisa, occasionally gets involved with his stepdad, but the cast is rarely nasty or over the top. It’s a fun watch.
While a slapstick comedy, Chacha Real Smooth evokes feelings of love, innocence, and youthful exuberance. It’s an entertaining comfort movie that reminds you that there is a world outside of the candies and sweets of life. And while it may be fun to watch, the film also does not explore real life in a realistic way. It’s a cliche, but it’s the kind of film that works for a film that relies on the naivete of its characters.
A film like Chacha Real Smooth is rare to come along and be so affecting. Director Cooper Raiff has established his reputation with his first film, Shithouse, which won the top prize at SXSW in 2020. The film stars Leslie Mann and Brad Garrett. In fact, the movie was so popular that it was sold to Apple for $15 million. And the cast is as melancholic as their roles.
